Link to the Past blanket by 8bitHealey
Link to the Past blanket

I sewed this video game map blanket all night. It was also the first time I ever sewed the Link to the past design. I’m happy to make these blankets, which are for sale in my etsy store, but you can easily make these for yourself because the fabric prints are for sale at spoonflower. You will need to buy back fabric and batting, so the whole project ends up costing under $100. Buy the Link to the Past fabric here. Buy the Link’s Awakening fabric here.

I know you guys think I only make Minecraft quilts nowadays! Its not entirely true - its just these are the only new designs I've been producing. This one had matching pillow shams ordered and I threw in an extra pillow case!

Link's Awakening Map Quilt by 8bitHealey
Link's Awakening Map Quilt
I've been working with printing videogame maps on fabric with Spoonflower.com

I printed 4 yards of fabric with a half of the map on each 2 yard panel. (You can get all the fabric I used here: www.spoonflower.com/designs?vi…. I extended the water and sky to make it the right length of a queen sized comforter 86" square. I used medium loft batting and a solid cotton fabric as the back.

I would kill for that Majora's Mask set, not gonna lie. Your quilts are absolutely amazing!! I'm looking to start making small quilt blocks of characters, maybe expanding into big quilts one day and you have certainly inspired me. Please keep up the great work!

I used a grid to plot out my Kirby quilt; have you ever used grids? I'm not good at math and I'd REALLY like to make my own Majora's Mask, but it didn't work out on the grid I had. How do you go about tackling the 8 bit quilts? Especially the Pokemon, I HAVE to make a Blaziken quilt like your Tyranitar.

I used to use photoshop and a grid system, but now I map it out in Google Excel documents. You can set conditional formatting to have the block show up as specific color and quickly type in a letter to each square. It limits you to only 9 colors, but it helps me get the base design and then I go in and customize designs later to have more colors or just kind of wing it during the actual piecing it together. Oh, here is a youtube video of me showing the making of a quilt - maybe it'll make more sense that way! (youtu.be/0hTd2DPzSJ8) For Pokemon I always use Bulbapedia to see all the different sprite versions of the pokemon and can pick out which gen might have the best design, so I'd look at this gallery for inspiration! archives.bulbagarden.net/wiki/…

I messaged you back! I'm so glad you like them. The price of the quilts vary, but once you tell me all your ideas I'll be happy to come up with a custom design and give you a price quote and from there we can tweak the design and you can let me know when you are ready to proceed to production! I'm booked through January with orders, but I'll be opening my store up as soon as I make some progress on my orders! The holidays were rough on me!
