Water Canals of Bangkok by 8bitHealey
Water Canals of Bangkok
Just a photo from my recent travels. I loved all the boat rides I took while in Thailand. The canals of Bangkok were very interesting to see what kind of homes lined them with lots of wildlife and boats.

A commission I just finished! I didn't know the character, but I kind of fell in love with him as I made him. He's kinda like a Pinocchio like boy in my mind. I made him and he came to life <3
Custom Name Harry Potter Baby Blanket by 8bitHealey
Custom Name Harry Potter Baby Blanket
I had fun with this blanket for a friend. I printed the custom name fabric at Spoonflower and used three other Harry Potter themed fabric to quilt it! I really had fun.
Charmed Togepi Pokerose by 8bitHealey
Charmed Togepi Pokerose

I had a package not make it to its destination by Valentines, even though they paid extra shipping and I had Fedex's blessing. It was really disappointing to know I was falling short of their hopes for their romantic holiday. But the client was SUPER cool about the botched shipment (the Fedex employee did not fill out the commercial invoice on the box for me correctly : p). So I'm sending their package the tried and true (and slower) USPS International and I asked him if his girlfriend had a favorite pokemon - which he said Togepi. I'm hoping this extra flower surprise delights them both and makes up for the flowers being lost in the mail.

I was really happy with how it turned out and have added this example on my etsy in the Charmed Pokerose listing.

I got big hopes for you 2014!

I would kill for that Majora's Mask set, not gonna lie. Your quilts are absolutely amazing!! I'm looking to start making small quilt blocks of characters, maybe expanding into big quilts one day and you have certainly inspired me. Please keep up the great work!

I used a grid to plot out my Kirby quilt; have you ever used grids? I'm not good at math and I'd REALLY like to make my own Majora's Mask, but it didn't work out on the grid I had. How do you go about tackling the 8 bit quilts? Especially the Pokemon, I HAVE to make a Blaziken quilt like your Tyranitar.

I used to use photoshop and a grid system, but now I map it out in Google Excel documents. You can set conditional formatting to have the block show up as specific color and quickly type in a letter to each square. It limits you to only 9 colors, but it helps me get the base design and then I go in and customize designs later to have more colors or just kind of wing it during the actual piecing it together. Oh, here is a youtube video of me showing the making of a quilt - maybe it'll make more sense that way! ( For Pokemon I always use Bulbapedia to see all the different sprite versions of the pokemon and can pick out which gen might have the best design, so I'd look at this gallery for inspiration!…
